So I’ve just (accidently) finished Fallout 3, and I’m actually pretty gutted it’s ended. You know you’ve played a great game when you’re disappointed to see the credits roll. Never-the-less, this paves the way for Tomb Raider: Underworld, The Last Remnant, and Grand Theft Auto IV – all of which are patiently sitting beneath the tree, awaiting my overly zealous hands to tear at the festive paper that adorns them, cradling them close to my body… Yeah, I’ve gone too far.

Three years ago, I decided it was high time I got into the habit of parking my arse on the sofa once again for unhealthy periods of time. In other words, get back into gaming. I was so out of touch with what was good and what was, as the buzz word seemed to be back then, next-gen, that I didn’t have any hesitation coughing up £300 to have King Kong bundled with my Premium 360. Needless to say, my introduction to “next-gen” gaming was a sour one. But instead of giving up, I became a regular reader of X360 magazine and recurrent member of their forum, which turned my attention to a little game everyone seemed to be talking about, called The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The last game I completed was Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway. Before that it was Mass Effect. Prior to that I finished Eternal Sonata for the second time, and previous to that, I put 110 hours into Lost Odyssey. Currently I’m nearing finishing Mass Effect for a second time (racing my best friend to 1000 points… and currently winning!), and next on my agenda is Fable II. Four out of those five games I’ve mentioned are RPGs!

Two hundred and ten hours, just think about that for a second. That’s nearly nine full days, or twelve thousand, six hundred minutes, spent running around the fields and dungeons of Cyrodiil. And I loved every second of it! The full extent of my addiction to Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion didn’t quite sink home with me until several months ago when I downloaded the Shivering Isles expansion and put the game disc back into my 360, ready to blow the dust off my enchanted daedric sword and strap on my armour once more like some returning hero of legend, which, let’s face it, to the local populace I was.
