I was thinking about getting this game. Glad to watch your blabbing. I think I have a better idea of what to expect from it, if I get it.

By the way, I think I’m in love. =_=

My character’s quite badass. Apart from being called “Parp”. I’m a mage, specialising in Arcane Warrior and Shapeshifter, with some big armour and a hefty sword, so I can do a warrior’s job as well:

Strength: 22
Dexterity: 23
Willpower: 39
Magic: 51
Cunning: 24
Constitution: 35

I’ve got a lot of resistances to various types of damage too.

I think it’s great that you spend that much time with a game, most other “pro-reviewers” don’t have that kind of time to spend with one game and end up rushing through games.

I’ve already finished the game for the PC, I bet there are some differences oh well. I’ve already talked a bit about my experiences with the game, what I really appreciated about the game though was the racial differences and how they handled mages. I think that the Dwarves of the Kingdom of Orzammar were really interesting as well.

I also found the game to be pretty hard and kind of made me wish that I could play the game with some buddies when the AI didn’t do what I wanted it to do. I also have this weird thing about RPGs, ever since I played Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 for the PC I’ve been comparing all RPGs to those games. It’s hard to describe but they really nailed the gameplay for those games, and I believe that they owe it a lot to the fact that voice-acting wasn’t such a big deal back then. If something was wrong with the script they could just rewrite it and put it into the game, nowadays they’ll have to go a whole other process to get things working, calling voice-actors, writers, animators (lip-syncing etc.)

Good post Ashley, I liked it a lot.

I somehow totally missed DA being released last year. Knew nothing about at all. I read your previous posts on the game and found that I was getting interested in the game as it sounded like my sort of thing. An RPG with real time element to it too (can’t stand all that woosh into combat ala Final Fanatsy etc). After floating around the net looking at trailers I headed off to the shops on Saturday and bought it. Now……. well now I’m totally loving this game! So I’m now £30 out of pocket thanks to Rockers Delight, but at the same time finding a new game to get hooked on. I love it, so thanks to you :-)

I’m about 15 hours in and about 20% complete or so. I decided to go with a Dwarf Noble, warrior class. Which so far I’m pleased with. I’ve downloaded the free content that comes with the game (a freebie… can’t turn that down!). But haven’t done anything with it yet. Perhaps I should?

On the subject of the video post, excellent stuff. Loved the comment about Alistair fucking this up! So true. Even at my low level he can be a bit of an idiot. You defo should do more video posts. Oh and great accent btw
