Aside: Holiday Gaming Schedule

Yes, I’m sad, I have a ‘Holiday Gaming Schedule’. It’s not laminated or anything. Far from it. In fact, all it is is a vague list of games floating around in my head, with a vague time frame to play them in. It goes a little something like this:

Finish Fallout 3 by Christmas as I will then have two new games to get stuck into; Tomb Raider Underworld, and - a bit of an oldie - Grand Theft Auto IV (both from my rock n’ roll Gran). My priority lies with Tomb Raider, being a big fan of the series. I’m not sure how long it will take me to complete it, but I point blank refuse to reference a guide for those inevitably sticky points, so it should hopefully take me up to my birthday, which is nearing the end of January.

By this point I can either console my lack of gaming birthday presents with Grand Theft Auto IV, or drop enough hints to secure myself a JRPG or two (Infinite Undiscovery and/or The Last Remnant would both put a smile on my face). Whatever games I don’t get round to playing immediately will be confined to The Big Drawer of Gaming for a rainy Sunday. Sounds like a plan, right? What’s your Christmas gaming agenda?

Life and work has me pretty backed up on games. I’m looking to finish Call of Duty: World at War and at least the main quests in Fable II and Fallout 3 next. Then after that, Brothers in Arms and Prince of Persia. Then after that, GTAIV.

Starting next year I am going to try to adopt a “one game at a time” policy. :)

I don’t really have a schedule since I’m not exactly sure what games I am getting. Though, I have found out that between my girlfriend and I we will have at least 6 games to play through plus whatever we are currently playing (Mass Effect for me), so I probably should think of some sort of schedule!

I need a Penny Arcade style wall chart. A couple of gaming all-nighters might be in order :D

Your picture of The Big Gaming Drawer made me think of GAME’s drawers behind the counter. Whenever I am in there I think “If only I could take that entire unit home…”. Anyone else think this? Someone please tell me this is normal thinking!

I’m also trying to get stuck into GTA IV, but my main objective is to get as much gaming done as possible during the Christmas hols without it impacting on my work! That, and after spending the past 3 months apart (mostly) from my console I’m overdue for my gaming fix!

After giving my family a list of the games I wanted, they’ve managed to keep quiet about which ones they’ve actually got me (apart from Fallout 3). So at the minute it’s a bit of a mystery but there will be enough (including ones I buy myself after finding out which I’ve been gifted) to keep me gaming for a while.

Mike: Doh, I totally forgot about Prince of Persia. How good is Fallout 3? :) That’s currently sucking up all my time, but, like I said, I am itching to have it finished by Christmas. Trying to squeeze in all - or as many of - the side quests too.

Mike Robinson: Wow, I’ve never seen that Penny Arcade wall chart! Hah! That’s exactly what I need ;) Judging from Twitter you’re enjoying Mass Effect just as much as I did. I’ll definitely be returning to it at some point. And no, I’ve never shared your sentiment for stealing the GAME drawer :p

Los Havros: Like I said over on your blog, it must be hard finding time to game when you’re at Uni and your console is at home. Then again, I think it would be too much of a distraction when studying.

Andy: Getting games for Christmas - especially when they’re a surprise - is pretty great, right? Thank goodness your 360 will be back in time for Christmas, otherwise it would have been a little too depressing having new games but nada to play them on.

Who said anything about stealing it? If I had the money I would gladly buy it all! ;)

Mike Robinson: Haha, I wonder why I jumped to that conclusion. Whoops!
