Play, Want, Bin: April 08
Every month I’m going to try and do a ‘play, want, bin’ post highlighting what I’m currently playing, what I’m wanting, and what I’m binning. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you’re currently playing, wanting, and binning as well.
Play
Viva Pinata - Yet again I have visited the colourful and oh-so addictive world of Viva Pinata in a bid to attract the more up-market citizens of Pinata Island. I never quite got there last time, and I’m hoping Loch Moomy (the name of my garden… Don’t ask) is much more hospitable this time round to lure the likes of a Roario and Salamango.
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - Player matches have been taking up my time on the Multiplayer front. I’m on 16000XP total and have maxed out all my ACES ranks. Having said that, I’m not even half way to gaining Elite status. Fortunately XP can be gained through T-hunt and story mode, so I’ll be mixing all the modes up to ensure I don’t get bored.
Want
To Level Up Like a Mad Geek - The RPG itch has struck again and what better game to satisfy my urge than Lost Odyssey? Apparently it evokes the emotion of FFVII. OK, so I was 11 when I played that and had the attention span of a, well, 11 year old. But I know that means it’s going to be great. If I don’t have the cash to splash on that then it’s back to Eternal Sonata or even Blue Dragon.
Nikon D80 - My work bonus is finally in my hands, and after much to-ing and fro-ing I’ve decided the PS3 isn’t something I really need to own after all, and that I’d much rather pick up a DSLR. Thanks to some helpful advice from Jeff Jewiss, I should be learning the photography ropes in no time.
GTAIV - I’ve not put a pre-order down, nor am I expecting to pick it up on release day, but it is a game I do want. As with any ‘hyped’ title, I normally avoid previews and reviews to avoid any possible spoilers, or general disappointment when I finally play the game in case I feel underwhelmed. Plus, the last GTA I did play was in 2D, so I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.
Bin
Bioshock - After my third time playing through this game (all three times on hard, the last play-through with the chambers turned off) I’m done. No more Bioshock. No more Rapture, splicers, hacking (thank fuck). I have every single Achievement, the full 1100. I just hope 2K aren’t planning on adding any more…
Spawn Campers - Play ethically please!
Microsoft - After much confusion as to why they were debiting my bank account £40, then a further £5 every month, it turns out you have to manually end your Gold subscription by phoning Customer Service. I didn’t know this and had happily set up a new account, only to discover my other account (which lays dormant) was charged £40 for a years worth of Xbox Live Gold. Don’t make the same silly mistake I did.

Here are my Play, Want, Bin items this month:
Play - Like Ash (surprise) I’m back into Viva Pinata to pick up the last 200 points I didn’t get the first time we played. Frustratingly, my first game stopped giving me party invites so I never got that achievement. Happily it’s in the bag now, but the bug is definitely back. Also on the list are to finish the last few (extra) Oblivion achievements to get the full 1250, finish the extra stuff on Blue Dragon, and pick up some more Dead Rising achievements. I also really want to play a racer again and seeing as I have PGR4 at home untouched I might play that too.
Want - Lost Odyssey is the only game really tempting me at the moment, although depending on a friend’s decision to get GTAIV I might also pick that up, but it really does depend on him.
Bin - Eternal Sonata. At last it is done, I have 1000 points after 117 hours and two playthroughs. It’s a great game, but it had me very, very fucking angry towards the end. Lots, I mean *lots* of running about and endless battles. Also, despite what I said above, I’m feeling less inclined to play my 360 at the moment. Hopefully it’s just a phase but a good book or some good old fashioned table top roleplaying are sounding more alluring. So maybe it’s time to lose myself in a(nother) fantasy world for a bit.

Loud78, congrats again on the 1000 for Eternal Sonata WITHOUT A GUIDE! One thing I am hoping for, which is absent from your list, is to see you back on Rainbow again. A girl can dream! Also, I had no idea you were even thinking of picking GTAIV up. I will be getting this at some point, but let me know the decision your friend makes, and whether he’s pre-ordering or not.
